My earliest memories as a child were visits to my father's restaurant
supply store on the Bowery in New York's Lower East Side.
As a small child, I used the huge stockpots to hide in, the 30"
diameter mixing bowls as either a rocking horse or a merry-go-round and
imagined myself rowing across a lake in the GI roast pans.
I guess with these experiences imbedded in my being, it was natural for
me to gravitate into the family business soon after college. It
seems I have spent the better part of my life in and/or around kitchenware.
In the early 1970's I was influenced by the legendary chef and
author James Beard and encouraged and mentored by Calphalon inventor Ron
Kasperzak to merchandise heavy-duty restaurantware for use in the home.
